
Dr Andrew Skyrme-Jones works as an Interventional Consultant Cardiologist at Southmead Hospital. He studied Medicine at Bristol University and commenced Cardiology training in Cardiff and Oxford before moving to Melbourne, Australia to undertake a PhD. His thesis catalogued the earliest abnormalities in the arteries of young patients with diabetes, and revealed treatments to restore diseased artery function. This body of work resulted in over 40 journal publications and he was awarded the Cardiac Society of Australia and New Zealand Ralph Reader prize for Young Investigator of the year in 1999.
